Aging and environmental factors may lead to loss of volume in the face leading to sagging, wrinkles, and deepening of facial folds. You may begin to notice volume loss in the temples, cheeks and around the eyes. That’s where autologous fat transfer or fat grafting can be used. Facial fat transfer can leave you with more natural-looking results that can result in a more youthful appearing face. It is very common for Dr. Brown to use the fat grafting technique at the same time of a facelift, but may be a stand-alone procedure if it fits your needs.

FACIAL FAT GRAFTING TREATMENT
Autologous fat transfer or fat grafting is accomplished by using a blunt tip cannula to harvest fat from a donor area. It is then processed so that only undamaged, whole fat cells can be used for re-injection. Lastly, the fat cells can be injected into a recipient area that Dr. Brown is trying to restore volume for a more youthful appearance.

HOW LONG DOES A TYPICAL TREATMENT TAKE?
A facial fat grafting procedure takes one to two hours to complete. The length of the procedure depends on the areas of your body in which the fat is being harvested and grafted.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
After a facial fat grafting procedure, you should take 7 to 10 days off of work and/or your regular activities. During this time, your swelling and bruising will fade and you’ll feel comfortable in public. You’ll be required to avoid prolonged exposure to heat and the sun for the first few months following your procedure.
